Coffee Chat

Sometimes it is so refreshing to gather with a girl friend or two and catch up over a fresh cup of coffee. I wish we could chat in person, but this is close enough I guess. Now go grab your morning cup and lets hang out!

How adorable is this knit coffee mug holder? This photo makes me warm and snuggly just looking at it. I saw this picture in a magazine recently (sorry I cant remember which one...) and I think I might try to knit one of my own. Maybe, if it goes well I will do another tutorial with a giveaway.

A new found hobby I have recently discovered for myself is jewelry making. I had this an for a braided necklace recently and I figured why not see if I could make one of my own. Sometimes projects like this turn into a total bust, but I am really pleased with how the necklace turned out and I am playing with the idea of making some more and selling them at a craft fair in Nashville this spring.

The chain is gold and the beads are more of a pearl color... this isn't the best picture. I also made a matching bracelet.

what do you think?

Speaking of crafts... I was talking to one of my readers via email today and she told me how her and her sister did some of my tutorial projects over the weekend! She said they made the pom flowers and some flower pin headbands. My goal in starting this blog all along was to not only give myself a creative outlet, but also to inspire others and be encouraged by their ideas as well. I want this blog to be a sort of idea book and design community for us to share together. It just made my day when Kelly told me that she hadn't really ever been much of a craft person, but that she had a blast doing those projects over the weekend!

My weekend, unfortunately, did not contain any crafts but I did have my very first wedding shower! It was a blast. My aunts and cousins threw it for me and they did a wonderful job. So many of my good friends and family were there. I felt  so loved and really special. And it was fun to start collecting some things from my registry!

The only downside to having a shower is that I have not yet moved out of my teeny tiny apartment and now my living room looks like an episode of Hoarders. Haha, well worth it though. Here is a little glimpse at what my lunch breaks will be consisting of over the next few months:

Last thing on my list to chat about today is the book I am currently reading. (Really, what would a coffee chat be without talking about a good book?) I am reading the 1st book of the Mark of the Lion trilogy by Francine Rivers. The book is called A Voice In The Wind and it is really amazing. This is actualy my second time going through the series. It is a story about a young Christian girl who is a slave in a wealthy Roman family's home and it is such a great story about the reedeming nature of God.

What are you reading? Any good recommendations? I am always looking for new things to read.
