A Day In The Life Of SBD

Whenever someone asks me what I do for a living and I say that I am an interior Designer the next question is usually something along the lines of "Oh fun! what kind of stuff do you do?" or "oh really? what is that like?" I always love being able to tell friends what it is that I am up to at work, but sometime it is not very easy to explain my day-to-day life as a design because, well, no day is ever the same. So, for anyone out there wondering what us designers do all day... here is a little run down of my day last Wednesday.

First, I grabbed a cup of coffee on the way into the office.

After checking up on emails and getting organized for the day I headed to the Green Hills mall to pick up a duvet insert for some bedding we are having made.

Next I went in Restoration Hardware... (which is design heaven in my opinion)

I was searching for some new pulls for one of our clients kitchens that we are renovating. Luckily I found what I was looking for!

On my way out of the store I stopped for a quick primping session in one of the display mirrors. A girls' gotta stay looking good on the go, ya know.

My next errand was to a fabric store here in town. We are having some bolster pillows made to match a daybed in a client's nursery and we didn't want to wait on ordering fabric so we were hoping find something that was in stock.

Looks like a match to me!

I had to run in a few more fabric stores before I found everything I was looking for... but I managed to pull it off in the end.

On my way back to the office I stopped by Anthropologie to pick up a new sketch book. They always have the best leather bound sketch books.

Once back in the office it was time for a little desk work.

I drew up some scaled drawings for a master bedroom and went through some catalogs to find some lighting options for a renovation we are doing.

Next I searched for some fabric options for some throw pillows we are making.

Look at all of those fabrics! That is only part of what we have in the office, luckily it goes a lot faster when I know what I am looking for.

This is what I came up with. We are still in the process of making a final decision though.

Once the workday was over I headed for home and worked on a blog post! I don't always write them right when I get home... sometimes I write in the mornings before work, but I do know that if I don't stay on top of it my night will get away from me and I won't get it done.

Finally, it was time to kick back and grill some food with my sweet Hubby. He is an excellent grill master by the way.
