Designer Highlight: Jonathan Adler

{originally posted on 2/22/2012}

 Many times I read books and articles and follow different designers to gain knowledge in my field and get design inspiration, and well, I thought why not share some of those designers with you?

Today's designer highlight is...

Jonathan Adler

Jonathan is an inteiror designer out of California. He started his career as a potter and sold some of his ceramic pots at Barney's starting in 1993. He continued his design career by creating his own furniture line and by partnering with many larger name brands in design colaboratons. Some of these brands include Lacoste, 7 For All Mankind, Lifeguard Stationery, Steuben, Larson Juhl, Robert Abbey Lighting, and HSN.

He then transitioned into an all out interior design career and has been thriving at it ever since. His specialty is luxury residence projects and large-scale commercial projects such as hotels and clubs. His design aesthetic is "Chic and Whimsical". He is a HUGE fan of color too.

This is one of Jonathan's retail spaced. You can also check out his furniture and accessories on his website.

Pink Chic... haha

I love the tufted ottoman and the chevron rug in this room.

This is my favorite room. I love the tall yellow drapes.

Jonathan has written a couple books too! You can find them on

Jonathan Adler's aesthetic isn't exactly congruent with my own style, but I do enjoy researching his designs for inspiraton. He is always using new patterns and colors and mixing and matching, his designs help me think outside the box.
