Stripes on stripes on stripes

Normally I am not a huge fan of stripes... don't get me wrong, I really like wearing stripes and I definitely like decorating with them here and there but they are not my go-to when it comes to patterns.

But there is just something about the summer that makes me want to bust out some stripes on everything I see...

I guess on some level stripes just make me thing of the Summer time. I think of being at the beach under a striped umbrella, or at the lame with a striped swim suit and towel. Anyway, due to the glorious southern Summer we are having right now, I have had striped on the brain lately. Here are a few of my favorite striped interior inspirations:

LOVE that swing and that blanket. Man, I need to get a porch with a swing STAT!

I am really digging the mix of stripes in this sitting room. I love how they can paired a pinstripe with a chunkier stripe and then threw some check in there for fun.

And speaking of using complementing stripes....how awesome are these matching (but not too match-matchy) chairs?!?

I am DYING! This is the most brilliant idea ever!

Or if you want a more bold design for your home.... what better way to add a pop of pattern than with a bold black+white stripe accent?

These sofas are amazing.... I feel like you should only be allowed to sit in them if you are wearing couture.

I am not always a fan of striped walls.... sometimes they can look a little cutesy or crafty, but this is the perfect example of striped walls done right.

One thing to keep in mind when using striped is to not go overboard (this rule applies to any pattern really). Figure out what element of your room you want to be a focal point and then gear the rest of the design around it. nothing kills a design more than too many focal points, it overwhelms your eye and you end up not really seeing any of the special elements.

Are you a fan of stripes? or are you more of a solid or pattern person?
