Today she is here to talk about a few easy ways to really put the final touches on you living room. I hope you enjoy!
Today we're talking details.
Details that can take your ordinary living room and make extraordinary! Living rooms, for most of us,  are the places where everything happens. We talk there, sit there, read there, watch tv there, and sometimes eat there. They are high-functioning areas of our homes. Just because they have to multitask and be comfortable doesn't mean they have to lack style.
Today, I am sharing 6 details that will complete your living room and give it a little extra something. All these ideas are easy and you can DIY them!
1. Lighting
Task lighting and mood lighting are so important in our living rooms. Sconces and chandeliers can set the mood. Lamps are great for task lighting. Bookcase lights can add extra help at night. Here's where we can play a bit. Shades on lamps and chandeliers are a great chance to add some detailing. I am a big fan of trimmings found at fabric stores, craft stores, and online stores. There are so many great options accessible to us now.
Here greek key trim and chandelier crystals take a regular drum shade to the next level.

Some canvas trimming contrasts a white shade. It makes it pop against the wall of white bookcases. Finials are another way to add something different to a lamp. There are a ton of stores online and you can find just about anything your heart desires.
The inside of our shades can be fun too. Adding gold or silver to the inside is a clever way to add some style. Also adding pattern there is another bright idea.

Our walls are an opportunity. Scale is so important when dressing a wall. One problem I see often is improper scale. I see a tiny framed photo above a couch with tiny sconces next to it. Art is a great way to liven up a space. The space above the couch or fireplace is prime large-scale art real estate.
Here this large fabric art adds another layer of pattern and interest to this room. This was made with wood from the hardware store and a shower curtain.

3. Texture
Rugs, blanket throws, and pillows are a great way to add comfort and style to your living room.

4. Tabletops
Coffee tables, accent tables, and end tables are a chance to add in elements you love. Fresh flowers always liven up a space. These don't have to expensive. The super market variety are great!
Trays! Trays! Trays! They can make any collection or combo of items look orderly. I always use them on table tops.

5. Natural Elements
Bringing nature into your living room is a great way to liven it up. Flowers are an easy go-to as we stated above. Live plants are fantastic.

Driftwood, wooden bowls, antlers, moss balls, agates and geodes are other natural elements that are nice to mix in your space.
6. An Element of Whimsy
I always like to add something odd to a room when it is almost finished. I think it's fun to have a conversation piece.
This horse bust was a thrifty find but it gets so much attention. I love it.  My design friends love it. My other friends and family are hit or miss. It's fun and different and me. Your space should ultimately speak to who you are.
I'd like to thank Sarah for having me blog crash and dish design today!
