I spent a little time over the weekend getting my home Fall ready. I brought out my fall scented candles and swapped my light Summer throw for a wool plaid one. My neighbor and I even baked some pumpkin bread which had my home smelling Ah-maze-ing! But no fall decor (in my opinion) would be complete without an assortment of pumpkins!
My local farmer's market had the most beautiful assortment of pumpkins this year. I am a huge fan of the more earth-toned gray, white and pale orange pumpkins for decorating that the traditional jack-o-lantern orange ones [Although those are much more fun to carve!] I look forward to decorating with these types of pumpkins every year, they are like artwork for my porch! The colors just grab me and get me in the festive spirit for the Holidays.
The trick to creating an eye catching centerpiece with real pumpkins is variety. Choose several shapes, tones and styles of gourds and pumpkins to use together. I arranged these in a tray that I had on hand. On the porch I created a few groupings of stacked pumpkins by the front door as well as a few on the steps. I always think it is best to use real pumpkins to decorate each year. I think the colors of the real ones are much prettier. Plus pumpkins are relatively inexpensive and they last quite a while which makes them worth a few extra bucks each year.
I must admit that I went a little overboard on buying pumpkins this year since I am planning to use a bunch of them as props for some upcoming photo shoots I have scheduled. Oops... haha. I am still booking for my Holiday Mini Photo Sessions - Contact me for more info!
