Oh Christmas Tree

The holidays continue! As Thanksgiving wrapped up many of us are scrambling to switch out our fall decorations for Christmas décor. And what better to get your house ready for December 25th than a Christmas tree!

Personally a Christmas tree is my favorite part of decorating. But lets be realistic, we all know the holidays can be expensive between traveling, parties and gift exchanges. Adding a tree to the list of expenses can be tasking. Not to mention some of us may not be home much during the holidays to enjoy a tree, and others might not have the space.

To solve this delimma I have some cute and out-of-the box ideas that can give your home that “Christmas Tree” feel without actually having a tree.

Using things around the house is always a good idea. Have some old books lying around? Use the paperback ones to make a DIY tree that would look great on a mantle or as a centerpiece to a table. Or take those dusty hard cover books, add a stand of lights and make a unique vintage themes tree.

Now if you’re in the mood for some arts and crafts, or have some little ones who might be this idea is perfect. Cut some old cereal boxes or purchase some inexpensive cones from a dollar or department store and use different nuts, pine cones, ornaments, yarn, glitter, ribbon to decorate mini trees!

Now if space is the issue that is making a live, or fake, tree unrealistic, look for a wall! Hanging Christmas cards or lights on the wall in the shape of a tree can still give off the same look and feel.

Use some of these ideas along with a scented candle to help spiff up your house for the holidays and give the illusion of the all important, and magical, Christmas tree!
