I am sure by now many of you have caught wind that something new and big was coming to the Sarah Catherine Design website.... well, today I am beyond excited to introduce you all to our Art + Print Shop! This has been a long time in the works (almost a year now), but it's something that I am very proud of and that I hope you will love as well.
The idea for creating a shop happened in a pretty organic way. I have always had a passion for interior design and photography, but graphic design, painting and art in general have always been a part of my life as well. One of my favorite ways to kill a Saturday afternoon is with my paints in hand. But the more I designed prints, the more I desired a way to offer them to my readers and exercise that creative muscle a little more.
About a year ago, my friend Katherine started painting florals. To say that I fell in love with her first piece would be an understatement. She has such a talent for painting, but like me, she was looking for a way to do more with it. After many excited conversations, we found ourselves in a full-blown collaboration, and the art shop idea was born. I'm the artist behind the prints and she is the artist behind the floral paintings.
The rooms in our houses tell stories, and its walls give them voices. A blank wall is like a window without a view, and one of the surest ways to make a space seem impersonal. However, I’ve found that people in our stage of life lack the funds (and often time) to curate an extensive art collection. This shop is meant to help bridge the gap for people who want something special to, define their space, but don’t typically frequent the downtown art galleries. We’d like to help your rooms tell their unique stories!
Meet the Artist: Katherine Brink
After living in rural middle Georgia for 9 years, I have found my way back to my home town of Marietta, Georgia where I live with my husband Edward and our Golden Doodle puppy Harper. For the past 5 years I have been a high school teacher but art and cooking are my true passions. So for now I am teacher by day, artist by night.
I am a painter with a love of colorful, whimsical, abstract realism art. I started painting at a very young age with my Grandmother. Ever since she taught me to work with oil paint at the age of 6 I have been hooked! My hope is to create art that brings a bright, interesting and fun element to any space in your home. I am currently specializing in florals and offer custom art pieces that will become a part of your home decor.
We are both so excited about this new adventure we are taking together, and I hope that you are too! I cannot thank my readers enough for your support on this blog, my work, and my life in general over the past few years. You are the best -I mean it! I'm looking forward to seeing where things go in the future—hopefully expanding beyond artwork and eventually bringing other things to the shop. Y’all know I don't have a shortage of talented friends here in Nashville! We will just have to wait and see where the Lord takes us next.
