Cheers to a new year and new design trends coming our way! Every year Pantone (the color authority for all things fashion and design trend setting) has released their color... well colors... for 2016! This year's colors are Rose Quartz and Serenity. You can expect to see these colors, used together and individually, across the board when it comes to design, fashion, home decor, etc. Personally I have some mixed feelings about this year's selection.
Rose Quartz has been one of my go-to colors for years now, so I couldn't be more excited that it is the color of the year for 2016! I wear blush tones all the time and even chose blush as the accent color for my own living room. It is obviously a girly color but I tend to use it almost as a neutral at times when dressing or working on design projects. Lets just say that me and Rose Quartz fit together a puzzle piece.
Despite my love for Rose Quartz, I am not sure that I love it paired with Serenity. I love a good dusty, pale blue, but Serenity looks a little too "its a boy!" to me. Pair that with a pale pink and all I can think about is "we're having twins" when I see the two colors used together. Anyone else agree? That's not to say that these two can't be paired well... I have even seen some pairings that I really like... it just may not be a trend that I jump on board with this year. I do think that each of this year's colors works really well with a wide variety of other colors and will provide a very diverse palette for designers to work with. Here are some of my favorite colors to pair them with:
