Sourcing artwork is one of my favorite and least favorite parts of the design process. I absolutely love the way hanging that perfect piece of art can make a room come alive... but then at the same time, finding that perfect piece (at times) can be an overwhelming challenge. There have been projects where I have built a design around a specific piece of artwork that a client just fell in love with. Other times (and most often) I have an idea of the type of piece that I want to work into a design, but the challenge is finding it amongst the vast selection of inspired work out there.
The trick when it comes to selecting artwork is to make sure that you love it first... then edit your selection based on what will fit the space you are wanting to use it in, is it the right style/color/etc.. Not every piece that you love will fit your design, but any artwork in your home should be something that you really love. We should hang art in your home based on what inspires you... you'll be seeing it everyday after all.
I recently discovered Uprise Art when a rep of theirs reached out to me. As I scanned their collection I became more and more impressed with the talented artists and work they have available! I am definitely going to be adding them to my list of go-to vendors when it comes to sourcing artwork!
