Every Summer I start getting the itch to use more prints in my designs. I guess the general energy of the Summer time lends itself to bright colors and patterns not only in design but in fashion as well. One of my favorite go-to textile designers for prints is John Robshaw. His designs are mainly tribal inspired and he just nails it with colors and scale every single time. I love using his fabrics, pillows, and bedding a lot... but he also has a great line of clothing, furniture, towels and accessories too. Here are a few of my favorites:
Kelly Wearstler might be the most trendy designer that there is right now. And I dont know how she does all of the things she does. She has an incredibly successful interior design business designing the homes of big-time celebrities like Cameron Diaz. She has a line of home accesses sold at Bergdorf Goodman. She has a fabric line with F.Schumacher that we use for clients all the time. Oh and did I mention that she is also a fashion designer? I mean really?
Her work is always on trend and she is always thinking outside the box. I get a lot of inspiration from her work because she like to push boundaries and come up with truly unique designs.
I love that scribbled wall and the brass night stands.
This is Cameron Diaz's kitchen. That backsplash and countertop is made of sheets unlacquered brass... how awesome is that? And they will only look better with age as the brass starts to get that great patina look about it.
There are so many cool things going on in this room. I love the metallic island and the dining chairs. My favorite element of this room are the light fixtures, although I might have done only a couple over the island rather than throughout the room.
This is a really cool space as well. I love all of the emerald with pops of color throughout.
One of Kelly's signature styles is marrying vintage with new. She has a way of keeping her designs on-trend and forward thinking without going way overboard on trends to the point that her design will go out of style quickly. The addition of vintage items gives the space the longevity and history it needs to counteract the trendiness. He designs are truly works of art in my option.
Here is a taste of her fashion line.. her designs are beautiful.. I just wish I could afford them! haha
One of the designers I like to gain inspiration from (particularly color inspiration) is Jonathan Adler. His designs are bold and beautifulRead More
