5 Ways To Score Big On Etsy

I use Etsy all the time whether I am looking for a vintage item for a client's home or just searching for artwork or jewelry for myself. But sometimes searching for great finds on Etsy can be a little bit like digging through the racks at a consignment shop.... there are some diamonds in there, but your probably going to have to sift through a ton of stuff before you find it. That process can be frustrating, exhausting and many times I lose interest before I really find what I am looking for. Does this happen to any of you?

The good news is, there are several ways to make searching Etsy more efficient and you will be impressing your friends with your awesome finds in no time!

1. Use The Favorites Feature

When you find a shop or an item that you like on Etsy, you can click on the heart icon under the picture to save it as a "favorite." DO THIS! Not only will it save you time in the future when you want to search for something from that shop again, but when you sign into Etsy you will see an option to search New items and Recently added items from your favorite shops. This is a great way of customizing Etsy to your personal taste.

2. Use The "More Ways To Shop" Feature

Under the "More Ways To Shop" menu you will find a bunch of ways to narrow your search. One of my favorite tabs under this menu is the "shop Local" tab because I like to search for new and interesting artists that live in the Nashville are.

3. Eliminate Unwanted Search Terms

When you are typing out the description of what you want to search for in the search bar, use the - sign to eliminate terms that you specifically don't want to search. FOr example: if I want to find a leather Ipad case... but i do NOT want to see any cases for an Ipad mini, I can type -mini and the search will not pull up any mini cases.

4. Use The Term Etsy When You Google Search

Lets say you want to find a vintage tribal rug for your kitchen on Etsy.... just add the word Etsy to the end of the search and Google will do the work for you! Pretty easy huh?

5. Follow The Etsy Blog

Did you know that Etsy has a blog? It is like a gold mine for finding the best shops out there. Browsing the blog once in a while will keep you in the know about new and noteworthy shops. You can also search the Editor's picks, Tastemakers, and Featured Shops to see whats popular.

If you follow these steps when using Etsy you will get a lot more bang for your buck when searching. There are some truly amazing artists out there just waiting for you to find them! Happy hunting!
